In his teachings, Buddha proclaimed "Your work is to discover your world and then with all your heart give yourself to it." Too often, people assume that the key to being successful in life is to land that top paying job with a big company that can provide you with the lifestyle that you have always dreamed of. For some people, this is what drives them and their values are aligned with this - we cannot begin to judge those if that is what aligns with who they are. However, it is most often the case that people going into these type of careers are never truly happy and are often wondering about what their lives would have been like if they went after their dreams and a career out of the things that made them happy. I have been truly blessed with my life that my parents, from an early age, always allowed me to pursue my talents and do the things that made me happy. As I grew older, I began to realise that I have been truly blessed with some God-given gifts. I suddenly realised that I wanted to relish in what I have been blessed with and turn these into my career. What are these gifts you might ask? They are Singing & Writing. Since a young age, I have been singing and as most know, over time my gifts with my voice began to blossom to the point where today I am making a career out of my passion and doing what I was born to do. My gift for writing is also similar. I was reading thick adult novels around 7/8 years old, and all throughout my schooling years, I was constantly writing short stories, plays and poetry (I wrote my first ever play in Grade 3 - all by myself, mind you!). I have been blessed with the most extraordinary imagination - though, sometimes this can be a hindrance as it is ever so hard to turn my mind off. People have always commented that I have such a lyrical, romantic flow to my writing and that I have the amazing ability to convey my thoughts in the most beautiful way through words. My dream since a young age has always been to be both a Singer & an Author. Unfortunately, for some years, my writing got pushed aside so that I could focus on my singing. Though, through all that time, I always felt like there was something missing from my life and I was never truly happy. I have now realised, if I want to be truly happy and live the careers that I am destined to live, I NEED to embrace all of my gifts. They are my calling and they will bring me the success that I search for in the journey that I am taking through life.
